Wildwood Etiquette
Before Your First Visit
All first time visitors are required to fill out health history and intake forms a minimum of 12 hours before your appointment, even if you have seen your therapist at a previous location. This allows your therapist to ensure your safety and prepare your chart.
When to Enter the Studio
The time between appointments is for the therapist to prepare the room, perform self care, and finish up mandatory charting. Feel free to roam the garden, have a seat on our front porch or wait in your car until just before your appointment, at which time you can enter the studio.
The Beginning of Your Visit
As mandated by the College of Massage Therapists of British Columbia (CMTBC), both new and returning clients are required to speak with the therapist prior to treatment.
For first time visitors, the first appointment requires an intake discussion. Here, your therapist will rule out any safety concerns, work with you to design a treatment plan, and obtain informed consent. This typically takes about five minutes of the first treatment time. For returning clients, this is typically a shorter duration and involves speaking about previous treatment outcomes, any new issues, and reaffirmation of consent.
The therapist will then leave you in the privacy of the studio to disrobe to your level of comfort, and after washing their hands, will knock on the door to ensure it is a good time to re-enter and begin your massage.
During Your Massage
We encourage you to:
Breathe slowly
Communicate with the therapist about what feels good, and what doesn’t
Speak up if you are uncomfortable about any draping or massage applications. You always have the right to withdraw consent at any time, no questions asked or feelings hurt
Ask for more or less of something, like oils, warming or cooling in the room itself or volume of ambient music
